New ways of Retail.

I’ve been meaning to write something about ukays since I started the blog. I just didn’t seem to find the right time to do it. When Chi (Black Book Designs) and Julius (Bee Eyes) invited me to go do some serious ukay, I couldn’t say no. These guys are serious about their ukay escapades. They go to really do some serious digging.

You never really know what you’ll find when you go to these places. From Visvims to Bootlegged Supreme shirts to even original BBC apparel, no wonder prices have shot up with 100s being the new 10s. What amuses me though is that, though prices have jacked up ten fold, the pieces you find are actually worth it compared to buying something from the tiangge or the department store.

These thrift stores have so many interesting finds. Some even way better than those you find in upscale boutiques. You’ll never get tired from visiting them. It’s like an addiction of sorts. The whole thrill of just finding something worth buying or even just finding for the sake of finding it is just really cool.

We ended our trip back again in Cubao X to check this really crazy vintage store. It was so groovy, man. That was all I could say when I stepped into the store. Everything they sold was vintage but surprisingly in really great condition. It was like stepping into your father’s heydays closet or possibly even your lolo’s. Prices were definitely prime compared to others but it seemed worth it to shell out an extra grand for one of their pieces.

  1. kix, what’s the address of the ukay you visited?

    • Sorry but i can’t spill. The ukay experience won’t be complete if I tell you. Goodluck!

  2. WOAH where’s the location on those ukay sneaks?

  3. Just my 2 cents. What’s the purpose of not saying where it is? How will the “experience” start if you don’t say where to go? kinda stupid if you think about it. defeats the purpose of your blog. I thought you want to share to the world the things and places to see in Manila? Blogs are meant to share, inform and educate. I am not hatin, hope you guys take this constructively.

    • There are a lot of ukay ukays around manila. why won’t you try and check em out. It sorta defeats the purpose of looking around if we just spoon feed you the locations. We didn’t go to these places cause we knew there were Supremes or other streetwear brands shoved into the shelves. We go because we want to see what the thrift shop has. If you want a clue you just have to ask for it man. We posted it too in one of the entries. Check it! have a nice day.:)
