New ways of Retail.
I’ve been meaning to write something about ukays since I started the blog. I just didn’t seem to find the right time to do it. When Chi (Black Book Designs) and Julius (Bee Eyes) invited me to go do some serious ukay, I couldn’t say no. These guys are serious about their ukay escapades. They go to really do some serious digging.
You never really know what you’ll find when you go to these places. From Visvims to Bootlegged Supreme shirts to even original BBC apparel, no wonder prices have shot up with 100s being the new 10s. What amuses me though is that, though prices have jacked up ten fold, the pieces you find are actually worth it compared to buying something from the tiangge or the department store.
These thrift stores have so many interesting finds. Some even way better than those you find in upscale boutiques. You’ll never get tired from visiting them. It’s like an addiction of sorts. The whole thrill of just finding something worth buying or even just finding for the sake of finding it is just really cool.
We ended our trip back again in Cubao X to check this really crazy vintage store. It was so groovy, man. That was all I could say when I stepped into the store. Everything they sold was vintage but surprisingly in really great condition. It was like stepping into your father’s heydays closet or possibly even your lolo’s. Prices were definitely prime compared to others but it seemed worth it to shell out an extra grand for one of their pieces.
